419: NNPC Sanarium and Engr. Wale Balogun

I made a promise last week that I will tell you about some 419 guys that want to scam me but I was smarter than all of them.
I received a call on 08086899324 from a man who introduced himself as Engr. Wale Balogun. He said he was in the same office with me when I was in Newstar but he was in the engineering department. He said he enjoyed reading my column then.
The guy praised my writing seriously and I was flattered. He said he left the company for a course in Germany and came back to pick a job in NNPC. I said I was happy for him.
He now asked where I now worked but I was evasive. "Well," he said, "there is a business proposal that you can also benefit in."
My antenna went up. I cut the line and called a former colleague at Newstar who said there is nothing like engineering dept and no Wale Balogun ever worked there. It is a small place!
He called me back and I apologized that it was network problem. He said there is one Alhaji Usman Bello who supplies ‘Samarium petroleum care’ but he doesn’t know where to get the product or at what price. He (Engr) usually get the product from one David Ayodele (07033408040) at Ilasamaja.
Engr insisted that I called David that night to confirm that he has enough products (Alhaji needs 50 gallons) on ground. I buy from David at N250,000/gallon and sell to Alhaji at N300,000/gallon. Then we split the profit.
I told him I was interested but had no call credit on my phone to call that night. Engr. Said I should call the following morning as Alhaji would be coming from Abuja to get the product. I still insisted that I had no call credit.
Eventually, the mumu David called me and said I had to buy a gallon that would be shown to Alhaji as sample. I told him I had no N250,000 and we started haggling. At the end of the day, he agreed to collect N50,000 from me.
All these while, they were the one calling me because I insisted I had no call credit but very interested in the business. I told him I have a car that I want to sell for N750,000 and the guy went crazy.
“You have to be fast about it o. If you can even pay more, the better for you,” he said. I pleaded with him that I will reach him.
Since then, the Engr. has been calling me but I am ignoring them.
I don't have any call to sell o and I have wasted their call credits. I want money but not desperately. You can call them, if you like.

  28. 2012 till date, this same Engr Balogun is still in the business of scamming people. Thank Gos I was smarter

    ReplyDelete
  29. The wale Balogun had called me sometimes in 2016 for his contract trap but I did not fall into it. He called again just now 2020 with my business name and he ended his call and expecting me to call and confirm the purpose of his call.
See me ooo instead of calling him, I just asked my friend (Google) and shown me this post.
My advice: it is good to grab opportunity but make sure you do multi-background check so that you will not fall onto the hand of scammers.
    God bless Nigeria.

  30. One mumu scammer Engr Wale Balogun 08068724921 called me claiming he was a former contract staff of NNPC Apata and he's now in Abuja office. He tried to claim a common point of contact which is false. He claimed someone do supply some items to them for the past 3yrs and now they want to use another supplier. One Alhaji Usman Bello will be lodging in Premier Hotel and I'll be meeting him to fine tune discussion on one Durad 150 from Germany which they use to clean rusted NNPC pipes. I've already changed his truecaller to Durad 150 scammer.

  34. So I was at my store jeje this morning when I got a call from one Engr Wale Balogun that their company NNPC wants me to supply them 200 PCs of Xmas Hampers through a contractor. I was very happy because I thought he saw my advert on Facebook, as per that's what I do for a living too. So I was flowing with the conversation, I even called my husband to inform him o that I hope this is not a scam. He also told me through a second call that I would help them deliver some Durad for clearing pipes and that I should call a number which belongs to Divine Mercy Nigeria Limited. Immediately I consulted Google to know if such company exist in Ondo state. That was when I saw this post and some other posts online that these people are fraudsters. He was even telling me he is a Christian, imagine the courage. Chaii!!! All glory to God and thanks for this post ooo

  35. It just happened to me this afternoon. I'm a fashion designer and someone called that she saw my business recommendation on Google and she wants to give me a contact to sew for 50 people. She said it's for politicians and was talking about the price I will sew and get fabrics. Suddenly she said apart from that there's a particular sanitizer they'll need too that's imported but she'll give me the sales manager in Nigeria's number to know the current price. I called that one and he said it's 100k per gallon. She said her boss will call me that I should tell him it's 120k per gallon plus the price of the clothes I want to sew. Shortly after an Hausa man called me and asked for the prices. He said he'll need 10gallons but I'd have to bring a sample first. I then called the woman back she said I should call the sales manager and make enquires that I should note the amount I'm spending on airtime and the likes that when we're to split the money she'll add it to mine. She even said I should tell the sales manager that I'm from Mrs Coker "Confidence Fashion". I called the sales manager he said they are his old time customer that the company does not give out samples for free again bcos people have abused it that some don't return it back but bcos I'm calling from the woman he'll call one of their customers to give me at a discounted price of 50k and when I want to order for the rest I'll pay the balance. I was surprised and I called the woman back that maybe she'll be the one to pay for the order. That was how she now said I should quickly order for it and just make sure I take not of the expenses. There and then I knew something was wrong cos how will I send 50k to someone just like that. My sense just told me to check Google for the company's name and couldn't find it then I confirmed it was a scam. They've been calling tirelessly eversince

    ReplyDelete
  36. They did the same thing to me this 2023. The woman claims to be Mrs Abigail while the man claims to be Albdulfati. Please becareful

  37. Same here yesterday.
Same set of people same method over ten years.
I was actually failing because I supply companies so it was easier to fall for it infact I was already calculating my profit and planning on what to buy with it for the growth of my business. I had a cause to on my data suddenly his call came in and the background shows red with a woman name then I sense scam. Then I Google search the company name to find out many claim.
I have decided to be playing along till he spend a lot in calling me. He will be the one to stop calling.
Let's educate people around us especially mini/micro business owners not to fall for juicy offer.
