Nigerian, Folorunsho Alakija, is worlds richest woman

Nigerian, Folorunsho Alakija, is worlds richest woman
Who says good thing cannot come out of Nigeria? It is happening every time but the bad apples in our society are really trying to spoil the whole bunch. They will not succeed.
Folorunsho Alakija is a woman and 61 years old and a NIGERIAN. She has pushed Oprah Winfrey down on the list of rich people.
The founder and owner of Famfa Oil, fashion designer and philanthropist is worth roughly $600million. Her company owns a 60 per cent interest in OML 127, an offshore oil field that produces roughly 200,000 barrels of oil per day and is worth an estimated $6.44 billion.
Folorunsho is married and has four grown sons, as well as one grandchild. She owns at least $100 million in real estate and $46 million private jet.
She started out as a secretary in the mid 1970s at the now defunct International Merchant Bank of Nigeria. She later left for London to study fashion design. She later returned to Nigeria and launched her fashion line, Supreme Stitches, which caters to upscale, high-society women.
While she was building her name as a fashion designer, Alakija in 1993 applied for an Oil Prospecting License -- an expensive permit that allows for oil exploration in a specified area.
The Nigerian government granted her request and allocated a 617,000-acre block of land to Alakija for oil exploration -- but she knew nothing about finding and extracting oil.
So in September of 1996, she appointed Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited -- a subsidiary of Texaco -- to act as a technical adviser for her business.
In 2000, Star Deep Petroleum determined that Alakija's land contained an excess of one billion barrels of oil. When this was discovered, the Nigerian government tried to re-acquire half of the oil-rich block it had sold to Alakija.
The Nigerian government was successful and Alakija lost control of all but 10 percent of her oil company until 2012, when Nigeria's highest court reversed the government's actions.
With Alakija now back in control of 60 percent of the oil company, her net worth has shot up to $3.2 billion, an estimate that Ventures Africa calls extremely conservative.
Alakija's sons now run Famfa Oil and her husband, Modupe Alakija, is the chairman of the company.
She recently purchased a $102 million property at One Hyde Park in London, as well as a Bombardier Global Express 6000 jet, which she bought earlier this year for $46 million.
Her charity, Rose of Sharon Foundation, gives out small grants to widows and orphans.

Pamper your skin with honey

I have heard so much about people spending thousands of Naira to buy different types of cream (concoctions?) for face, neck and body all in a bid to look younger than their age. However, some are doing it just to maintain their skin complexion.
I have tried my hands on some of these things but, I can tell you, there is nothing like going natural. After all, many of the beauty products also have traces of natural ingredients in them.
I am going the honey way, first. Honey has the ability to absorb and retain moisture. It has natural antioxidant and anti microbial properties. Honey absorbs impurities from the pores on the skin, making it an ideal cleansing agent.
Before you decide to use honey on your skin, you must be sure it is pure and not adulterated honey. A simple way of testing is to observe how liquid honey comes down into a glass of water. Pure honey does not immediately dissolve in water; you will notice that it takes a bit of effort to stir it in the water to dissolve the lumpy bits, whereas adulterated one tends to dissolve easily as you drop them into the water.
Here we go with some DIY recipes to pamper your skin.
1. Cucumber-Honey Toner:
Puree 1 cucumber in a blender, drain and collect the juice. Add 2 teaspoons of honey into the juice and mix. Pour the mixture into a bottle. Apply on the face and neck area with a cotton pad in the morning and at night. Air dry it and rinse clean. Store the bottle covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
2. Honey-Apple Toner:
In a blender or food processor, combine 1 peeled, cored apple with a tablespoon of honey and pulse until smooth. Apply mixture to face and allow it to stay for 15 minutes, then rinse.
3. Honey-Oats Face Scrub:
Combine 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon finely-ground almonds, 2 tablespoons dry oatmeal, and some lemon juice or yogurt to a luxurious and exfoliating facial scrub. Massage mixture gently onto face, then rinse with warm water. This blend gives a deeply emollient cleansing to the pores of your face. Almonds and oats are superb softening exfoliants.
4. Gentle Honey Cleanser:
Mix 1⁄4 cup honey, 1 tablespoon liquid soap and 1⁄2 cup glycerin (found in drug stores). Apply gently on to face using a face sponge. Rinse with warm water and pat face dry.
5. Hot Honey Bath:
Perhaps the easiest natural skin care recipe using honey -- Add 1/4 cup of honey to your hot bath water for silky and luscious skin. This is especially good for dry skin.

NIGERIANS, Please stop worshiping your pastors!!!

STUPIDITY is when you don’t have a bicycle and you give your last penny to your pastor to buy a jet…….

MUMU is when you can’t pay your children’s school fees and yet have money to contribute to your church to build expensive schools which your children will never attend..

IGNORANCE is when you believe it when your pastor tells you not to live a worldly life, yet he enjoys all the best things in the world;the fine houses, cars, jets, babes etc, while you

are waiting till you get to heaven to enjoy your own….

IDIOCY is when you refuse to take your very sick child to the hospital because your pastor said you should not do so, yet that same pastor secretly runs to USA for medical attention any time he has a headache…

KOLO is when you see a poor beggar on the road and you refuse to give him 50 naira out of the 5000 naira in your pocket bcos it is your tithe money….You

YOU are a zombie when you trek, dance and gallivant for 30 kilometers under the hot sun sweating and smelling like shit during your revival program, while your pastor is inside a full option, factory fitted air- conditioned state of the art SUV with his delectable wife slow driving along the road.

Stop worshiping your pastors!!! Stay focused on Jesus The author and finisher of your Faith. And learn to study the word.

Lagos police arrest suspected serial murderer, robber

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Balogun, a 25-year-old man accused of perpetrating a series of murders in Somolu, Bariga and Fadeyi in the state.

PUNCH Metro had reported on June 25, 2012, that Balogun also known as Small Jpron, was declared wanted following a gang-related violence between Shaggy Boys and Downtown Boys which left at least five people dead in Ilaje, Bariga.

Balogun, who also goes by the pseudonym, Asarailu, which means death in Arabic, is said to be the deputy gang leader of Downtown Boys and a member of a sect, Eiye Confraternity also known as EFCC Boys.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Balogun was arrested on Bawahala Street near Pedro Police Station on Saturday.

A reliable police source narrated the circumstances that led to Balogun’s arrest to our correspondent.

He said, “On Friday, around 11:30am, Yusuf Adebowale, a resident of Somolu, took a commercial motorcycle to FirstBank branch in Fadeyi to withdraw N100, 000. As he was withdrawing the money from ATM, the okada rider, later identified as Dare, informed Balogun and his gang.

“As Adebowale left the bank, just a few metres away, Balogun and three other gang members attacked  him and stole the money, phone and a wristwatch.

“Adebowale reported the matter at Onipanu Police Station and also told youths in the area about his ordeal. Less than an hour later, Dare, the okada rider, was apprehended by residents and taken to the  police station where he confessed.

“Later that night, he led us to Balogun’s hideout but Balogun was not around. One of the policemen, identified as Abu, however released Dare without authorisation.”

Our correspondent learnt that the following day, around 11:30am, Balogun and four others allegedly went to rob residents of Bawahala Street and a woman alerted the police.

The police source said, “In broad daylight, Balogun and four gang members, heavily armed, went to rob. We received a distress call and policemen headed by Inspector Smart, rushed down to the scene.

“The four others escaped but Balogun was arrested and taken to Pedro Police Station where he identified himself as Ibrahim Oriyomi Folarin.”

Our correspondent learnt that the policemen could not identify Balogun even though the police had declared him wanted. However, scores of residents stormed the police station and quickly identified him.

It was learnt that there was pandemonium at the station as residents who had fallen victims to Balogun and his gang asked the police to hand him over.

Youths in the area were said to have brought a tyre and petrol which they threatened to set the suspect ablaze.

But the Special Anti-Robbery Squad took Balogun away and this restored normalcy to the station.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

She said Balogun had been on police wanted list for a long time.

“I just spoke to the officer in charge of SARS and he confirmed the incident to me. He said the suspect (Balogun) is accused of murders, attempted murders and robberies,” she said.

Report an 'agbero' Lastma official today!

Batch 5 officers of Lastma and KAI during the induction of the batch's career evaluation training programme

As far as I am concerned, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma) is one project I will give Oga Fashola kudos for although I have knocks for his administration too! I said his administration not him personally o!
Although some Lastma officials were recruited after their performance in the parks as touts, Fashola took them to class to brush them up.
Although they were taken to class, some of them still FAIL out as they remain the same; tout.
Although some of them were given cameras to capture ofenders and scene of traffic offence, some of them still struggle with drivers (especially commercial vehicles) to collect ignition keys to drive the bus to wherever the settlement ground is.
Although Comrade Kayode Opeifa (when he was the special adviser on transportation) can defend these Lastma officials with anything unless you provide credible proof, they still mess up.
If any Lastma official is bent on being a tout, rude and unruly, stay calm (I know its not easy) and simply report them.
Use these numbers: 08077185769 or 08025238731.

D’BEAT GETS NOMINATED FOR 2012 NMVA

Many who closely followed the 2011 Star Quest talent hunt show were not surprised to see D’beat band emerge as winners. The band members displayed a ‘winning’ attitude from the very beginning until the day they were proclaimed the best band in fame land.
They were subsequently signed to Nigeria’s premiere management outfit, Now Muzik , thereby becoming management family members with some of Africa’s finest artises ; 2face Idibia, Tmi Dakolo and J.Martins.  The band has since performed in major concerts across Nigeria which includes but not limited to the Away and Beyond Concerts in Abuja and Port-Harcourt.
D’beat’s debut single, oyoyo which was written and produced by Paul Play, co-produced and mixed by Del’B, easily made it to the playlist of good music lovers few hours after its release and the video, directed by fast rising Patrick Elis receives heavy rotation till date.
Fast forward to November 2012, their toil and labour has no doubt taken them to greater heights as Oyoyo makes it to the nomination list alongside Timi Dakolo, Burna Boy and Dipp in the best RnB video category for 2012 Nigeria Music Video Award (NMVA) .

Now Muzik artistes raise hope for flood victims

Now Muzik-managed artistes, 2face, Timi Dakolo and J.Martins, gave soul inspiring messages to Nigerians through their music in a bid to help and give hope to flood victims in the country.
The event was a fund raising dinner put together by the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation and presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
Rendering the thought provoking lyrics of Great Nation to the guests, Timi evoked a sense of patriotism, and a belief that greatness is within the grasp of each and every Nigerian.
Speaking about the event, Timi said, “It is fulfilling for me as an artiste to contribute in my own way towards giving hope to the flood victims. Their rehabilitation is very paramount and finding a lasting solution to flooding in the country is also very important.”
The soulful singer also explained why he kept the guest glued to their seats with Great Nation with this words ,  “I sang Great Nation, a single off my Beautiful Noise album, because it is the message of hope, unity and patriotism that we really need at this time in our great country. TIMI DAKOLO’S GREAT NATION VIDEO DROPS!
IT’S A WATERSHED MOMENT”, HE SAYS!

The eagerly anticipated video to Timi Dakolo’s awe-inspiring classic, Great Nation is out – officially and exclusively on- www.youtube.com/timidakolo
The song widely considered as one of the most inspiring African- produced pieces of all time has repeatedly left audiences spell bound after every performance.

From the closing ceremony of the 2011 National Sports festival in Port Harcourt through the Future Awards (where the video was premiered) to the Headies and countless other events, Timi’s powerful rendition easily penetrates the hearts and inspires the minds of Nigerians of all generations, backgrounds and creed.

Great Nation inspires a sense of patriotism in uncommon proportions and offers something to believe in, a great reason to be proud of one’s “Nigerianess” and a belief that indeed, greatness is within our grasp.
Released by Lone Records/ Now Muzik and directed by the multi-award winning Clarence Peters, the video will hit TV platforms by the end of the week.

Timi expressed his happiness with the release of the video thus: “I am delighted that the Great Nation video has finally been delivered and the feedback so far has been wonderful. It was a very challenging exercise, believe me. The process of agreeing on the best treatment for the video to a song of this magnitude in terms of importance was rigourous. Everyone had a bright idea about how it should be visually interpreted but once we started the shoot, everything progressed fluidly. I’m particularly grateful to my friends – and firm believers in the Nigeria project who formed the cast, Clarence and his crew, Cobhams Asuquo, Joan Ekpai, Olaitan Dada and everybody that made this a success. This is indeed, a watershed moment!.”

Timi is currently preparing for ‘The Evening’, a fund raising concert for people living with disabilities, scheduled for the 17th of November at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
