Your maltreatment of women is legendary: From Iyabo Obasanjo to OBJ

"Getting back to my mother, I still remember your beating her up continually when we were kids. What kids can forget that kind of violence against their mother? Your maltreatment of women is legendary. Many of your women have come out to denounce you in public but since your madness is also part of the madness of the society, it is the women that are usually ignored and mistreated. Of course, you are the great pretender, making people believe you have a good family life and a good relationship with your children but once in a while your pretence gets cracked", Iyabo Obasanjo (from the Open Letter)

Stone him to death - Sharia verdict for a randy man impregnated his sister

A randy Nigerian man has been condemned to die by stoning, for impregnating his younger sister. Umar Mohammed Kandahar, 30-year-old, is however appealing the sentence handed down by the Upper Sharia Court in Bauchi, his lawyer has said.
Umar was arraigned before Upper Sharia Court Unguwar Jaki, by the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission. Counsel to the Shariah Commission, Barrister Dayyabu Ayuba, told the court that though married with three wives, Umar forcefully had sex with his younger sister, from the same father.
Barrister Ayuba disclosed Umar committed the abominable act when the younger sister was brought to his house by their father to help take her to school. He said the offence is contrary to section 136(1) of the Bauchi State Penal Code Law 2001, disclosing that the girl, who was 16 at the time, became pregnant and has delivered a baby.
Umar pleaded guilty but claimed that the act was consensual. The Shariah Court Judge, Musa Barde, sentenced him to death by stoning.
Umar’s lawyer, Barrister Sadiq Abubakar, promptly filed a motion before Bauchi State High Court 7, asking for the bail of his client, pending the determination of his appeal by the Sharia Court of Appeal. His argument is that his client’s family has suffered as a result of his detention since 2011.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Aliyu Baba Usman, has fixed next week Monday, November 25, for mention.

Asiwaju was scared and opposed my nomination at first - Tinubu Ojo

The new Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Folashade Tinubu Ojo has debunked the rumour that her father, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu imposed her as the leader of Nigeria Association of Market Women and Men saying the chieftaincy title is frightening to Asiwaju.
Folashade who was officially installed as Iyaloja General at the Iga Idungaran palace of Oba of Lagos also debunked the rumour that her educational attainment is not beyond Secondary School level.

Speaking with journalists at her office in Ikeja at weekend, Folashade explained that contrary to the reports about town that her father imposed her on the market women and men. She said, “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is scared and opposed the idea at the beginning when ‘Mama’, Alhaja Abibat Mogaji muted it.

“Those who said my dad imposed me on the association don’t know how he opposed the idea when Mama came up with it. For three separate occasions, Mama kept on pestering my dad that she wants to take over from her as the leader of the association.

“I learnt that it was when it got to a stage when Mama uttered a statement from the deeper side of her heart that if my dad will not want his children to disobey his directives, he should support her desire. It was at this stage that my dad tactically heeds to the demand from Mama,” she said.

“Aside this, I have stand in for Mama as the leader of the association at various occasion since 2010. I have been acting in her capacity while she was alive. I have garnered experience deputizing for Mama since 2010. I have the experience and virtually all the market leaders knows me quite well and I relate very well with them even when Mama is still around,” she explained.

On the leadership role threw on her shoulder, Folashade described her attainment of the President General, Association of Nigerian Market Women and Men as an assignment from God. “To be honest with you, I never thought of becoming Iyaloja in my dream in life. Before now, I have always had ambition to go into politics like my dad but now, such cannot happen any longer. God had said Iyaloja assignment is what HE wants me to do and who am I to say No when God say this is how HE want me to live. I am not the type that queries my creator,” she said.

However, Folashade admitted that despite the fact that her grandmother, Alhaja picked her as successor while she was alive, her choice did not take place with fiat as people thought. “It is not unexpected because for any public position, whenever it is time to choose a candidate, there could be as many aspirants as one could think of but only one will be chosen at the end of the exercise. If the chosen candidate is well accepted by the majority as it happened in my case, other contestants will need to hands down and prepare to work together as a team for the development of the association or political party.

The Iyaloja General admitted that the responsibility of an Iyaloja General is enormous. “There is no way I can do it alone. The job before me is beyond what I can do all alone by myself. I need everybody contribution, support and prayers,” she said adding, “ I will try not only to improve on the record of Mama, Alhaja Abibat Mogaji but will break new grounds of which generations born and yet unborn are to live with.

For Ladies: Ten Commandments For A Healthy V*gina

A healthy v**ina is equivalent to a healthy woman. So, it is very important that all women should be concerned about their vaginal health. If you want to protect yourself from common yeast infections and vaginal odour, then follow these simple Ten Commandments to keep your v**ina healthy.

Never use soap – At times, the odour of your v**ina can be very overpowering embarrassing, but at these times, avoid cleaning your pubic area with soap or liquid cleanser. The v**ina can stay clean by itself, as our body has a system for it. Also, during menstruation, just wash it with water to maintain good hygiene.

Stay away from vaginal sprays – You might think that using a floral spray on your v**ina, will give it a sweet-smelling scent, but this could actually ruin the pH level of your v**ina and cause irritation and other problems.

Maintain good hygiene during your periods – For a healthy v**ina, it is very important to follow proper hygiene during menstruation. Never use your sanitary napkins for too long. It absorbs blood and if used for a longer duration it can cause bacteria build-up and lead to rashes and irritation.

Wear cotton panties – Choose cotton panties over other material as they dry quickly and also allows passage of air, which further helps in preventing yeast infections due to damp conditions. So, avoid fancy underwear made from fabrics like lace, silk or synthetic material.

Wear loose clothes – Wearing tight clothes like skinny pants usually traps moisture and can lead to yeast infection and rashes. So, it is very important to wear loose-fitting clothes.

Trim pubic hair – Maintain good vaginal health by regularly trimming your pubic hair. Excess hair around your v**ina can create a moist environment, which can cause bacteria to grow leading to infection.

Do kegel exercises – Kegel exercise will help to strengthen your pelvic muscles and also help you enjoy s*x. While you urinate, try stopping your urine midstream, by tightening your muscles for few seconds and then release them.

Drink plenty of water – The best way to keep your v**ina healthy is by drinking water at regular intervals. Water helps to throw out bacteria present in the body in the form of urine, and helps in boosting your vaginal health.—

Check strange vaginal behaviour – If you notice a strange, smelly vaginal discharge, excess itching or unusual colour then it is important that you treat these symptoms by consulting your doctor, in order to prevent it from getting worse.

Go for a Pap Smear – Since cancer is on the rise, it is best to prevent it rather than treat it. The best way to prevent cancer of the cervix is to take a pap smear test at least once a year or as advised by your doctor. This will save your life and keep your v**ina healthy.

Develop your abandoned structure or face prosecution

After the Lagos State Security Council, under the chairmanship of  Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), met on Wednesday, it was agreed that owners of abandoned buildings or structures used as hide out by criminals would be prosecuted.

Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr Umaru Manko said for any landlord who keeps a criminal in his house, he should also be regarded as a criminal.

According to him, the Council observed that despite repeated
warnings some owners of uncompleted buildings and plots of land have failed to take any action therefore turning the place into haven for criminals.

He said further, “We have deliberated on that and the story is just simple. You either take
responsibility for undeveloped plots or buildings so that criminals would not have a hiding place in those areas as the government directed before or forfeit them”.

Lagos vows to stop the use of unregistered and unpainted vehicles

An approved taxi cab in Lagos
As a step towards stemming the rate of security infractions occasioned by the indiscriminate use of unregistered vehicles and the illegal use of unpainted taxis, the State Government has resolved to invoke the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Law 2012 on offenders.
Henceforth, all such unregistered vehicles and unpainted taxis will be impounded and their operators arrested and charged to court for prosecution as provided for in Section 25 of the Road Traffic Law 2012.
This was disclosed by the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa while briefing newsmen on the steps taken by the State Government to regulate the operations of commercial vehicle operators in the State.
He advised members of the public to be suspicious of unpainted taxis as many of them are now being used for illegal and criminal activities, saying that findings have shown that many of these vehicles are the tools for armed robbers, kidnappers, hired assassins and other unscrupulous individuals.
He also admonished the public to patronize only the registered taxis (private and corporate cabs) with recognized colours so as not to fall prey to the hoodlums and other men of bad attentions.
The Commissioner said that since the public have the responsibility of securing themselves, they should resist all temptations to patronize such vehicles and report any known person doing so to law enforcement agencies. He also called on law enforcement officers to ensure compliance by bringing offenders to book.

NEW MUSIC - SPLOOFIC BY BUTAFLY

Emerging strongly in the Nigerian music scene is an amazing Hip-hop artiste and song writer, Butafly, who is gradually gaining recognition among her counterparts. The outstanding rapper who recently featured alongside Weird MC and Sasha at the just concluded April edition of Str8 Up Hip-hop tagged ‘Ladies First’, is said to be one of the most lyrically gifted female acts to grace the Nigerian entertainment industry in a long while. Little wonder why her last released song ‘Started From The Bottom’ (Drake’s cover) keeps receiving great reviews and commendations since its premiere online till date. Butafly is currently rounding up recording one of the most anticipated material from a female artist, Butafly Rap Trap Mixtape 1 (BRT1) whose release date was previously postponed, giving her the space and time to try new ideas and stretch her imagination.
‘Sploofic’ is the second single off the #BRT1 Mixtape and was produced by Panda record’s producer/artiste, Prolishey. Expect a couple of internet videos from the energetic performer in the weeks to follow before the release of BRT1 Mixtape.

Where is the Sunborn Yacht Hotel?

Have you noticed that the first African luxury hotel on water, The Sunborn Yacht Hotel, is no longer around?
Yes, it has ‘disappeared’, after more than four years of occupying Lagos waters in Marina and no one knows the whereabouts.
I could remember the former commissioner for tourism, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, defended the mooring of the N4.5bn luxury yacht with 102 elegantly furnished suites in Lagos Marina. He came up with excuses of repairs and some other ones I can’t recollect now for the ship ‘wasting’ away.
It has disappeared and Lagos State Government is washing its hands off it.
Commissioner for tourism, Oladisun Holloway, allegedly said, “As citizens of the state can’t find it, so is the state government also. The government can’t say precisely where the yacht is berthed at present.
“The state government doesn’t have any commitment in the yacht. And I don’t know why the residents of the state should be interested in whereabouts of the Sunborn yacht”.
Does this means that Afikuyomi worked alone on this? Who actually own that yacht? I rest my case.

World Malaria Day: Lagos promises to sustain malaria control activities

As we mark World Malaria Day, Lagos State Government has promised to continue to sustain and improve upon all activities geared towards malaria control.
This was stated in a press release signed by the state health ministry’s PRO, Jide Lawal. The release listed some of the activities embarked on by the state as the diagnosis of malaria cases and treatment with effective medicines, distribution of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) to achieve full coverage of populations at risk of malaria, and the Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) exercise.

The ministry stated that Lagos State is currently the only state implementing the integrated vector management project which consists of three components; Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs), Indoor Residual spraying (IRS) and Larviciding.
Larviciding operation primarily attacks the mosquito larva and its ability to breed and has been implemented in Agboyi Ketu and Ikosi Isheri in Kosofe local government area.  Five rounds of larviciding spraying were carried out on over 544 hectares of land and 934,614 estimated numbers of people have been protected.

It would be recalled that in 2011, the state government distributed 4.2 million LLINs with a target of two nets per household in mind through a mass campaign exercise.
The state has continued to implement the Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) exercise in the last three years with the six local government areas of Ojo, Ikorodu, Badagry, Amuwo-Odofin, Kosofe and Ibeju-Lekki and their adjoining local council development areas benefiting from the intervention.

No fewer than 334,769 rooms have been sprayed in these local governments areas with an estimated population of 3,570,113 being protected.
“In collaboration with our partners, microscopes and Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits have been pushed into the system while Artemisinin Combination Therapy (ACTs) anti-malarias are provided free for treatment in all our facilities”, the release stated.

In line with this year’s world malaria theme: ‘invest in the future: defeat malaria’ and the slogan ‘Time is now’, a series of activities which include LLINs hanging-and-utilization campaign has been lined up to emphasize the role of all stakeholders.

Don’t marry him, if he is any of the following:

The "help me until I'm ready" guy. He is insecure and only talks about his own problems (never yours) but he wants a lady by his side because it makes him feel worthy. He will never be ready. So, forget him.

The "dare to discuss marriage" guy. He dares to talk about marriage and future plans with you, knowing it's what you want to hear. But that's all he'll do; no further action is ever taken.
The "be my guest and discuss marriage" guy. This guy lets you do all the talking about marriage you like. He knows you dream about it; he listens to you discuss it in great detail. Ask him about dreams, he says, "Whatever you want, honey."

The "bear with me" guy. He finds nice, logical excuses that seem acceptable. You know, he can't take action now because he's busy with his career, or his weight loss, or his parents' needs. You name it, and the statement is "Bear with me."

The "let's have fun first" guy. He sticks around for the thrill of the game. When the fun is out, he's onto a new adventure and a new thrill. He's not here for future plans or kids or family. He wants and talks about fun and about sex.
