TIMI DAKOLO’S GREAT NATION VIDEO DROPS!
“IT’S A WATERSHED MOMENT”, HE SAYS!

The eagerly anticipated video to Timi Dakolo’s awe-inspiring classic, Great Nation is out – officially and exclusively on- www.youtube.com/timidakolo
The song widely considered as one of the most inspiring African- produced pieces of all time has repeatedly left audiences spell bound after every performance.

From the closing ceremony of the 2011 National Sports festival in Port Harcourt through the Future Awards (where the video was premiered) to the Headies and countless other events, Timi’s powerful rendition easily penetrates the hearts and inspires the minds of Nigerians of all generations, backgrounds and creed.

Great Nation inspires a sense of patriotism in uncommon proportions and offers something to believe in, a great reason to be proud of one’s “Nigerianess” and a belief that indeed, greatness is within our grasp.
Released by Lone Records/ Now Muzik and directed by the multi-award winning Clarence Peters, the video will hit TV platforms by the end of the week.

Timi expressed his happiness with the release of the video thus: “I am delighted that the Great Nation video has finally been delivered and the feedback so far has been wonderful. It was a very challenging exercise, believe me. The process of agreeing on the best treatment for the video to a song of this magnitude in terms of importance was rigourous. Everyone had a bright idea about how it should be visually interpreted but once we started the shoot, everything progressed fluidly. I’m particularly grateful to my friends – and firm believers in the Nigeria project who formed the cast, Clarence and his crew, Cobhams Asuquo, Joan Ekpai, Olaitan Dada and everybody that made this a success. This is indeed, a watershed moment!.”

Timi is currently preparing for ‘The Evening’, a fund raising concert for people living with disabilities, scheduled for the 17th of November at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.

Timi set for The Evening in Nairobi, Kenya

Timi set for The Evening in Nairobi, Kenya
It has now been confirmed that one of Africa’s finest R&B artiste and the winner of the first West Africa Idol is set to perform for the first time in Nairobi, Kenya at a concert put together by Opa Williams Production.
The tender hearted humanitarian artiste will be the star artiste at the concert dubbed The Evening scheduled for Safari Park Hotel on the 17th of November.
According to Efe Omorogbe, CEO of Now Muzik that manages Timi, the concert is a fund raiser for people living with disability and it will also feature other artistes from Kenya as well as Nigerian ace comedian, Ali Baba.
Timi’s choice as a star artiste is not far-fetched; his rich choice of words, depth of lyrics and soulful vocals, is always an experience for listeners. His Great Nation single from off the Beautiful Noise album is listening pleasure any time with its timely message and words of encouragement.
Timi has been involved in a number of charity works. He performed pro-bono at Valentine At Christmas, a charity concert organized by British Council in 2008 for the benefit of Lagos State schools and also the Inspired Africa Benefit Concert in 2009.
It would be recalled that Timi teamed up with eight other Nigerian artistes to produce a sound track for the Inspire Africa Foundation.
He has five videos to his credit which includes I Love U (2010), There’s a cry (2011), Let It Shine (2011), So Beautiful (2011) and Love Letter (2012) directed by Clarence Peters.
Other artistes expected at the concert include Chris Bitok, Suzzana Owiyo, Daddy Owen and Nairobi Choir.

Tejuosho Market will soon be ready.

When I saw some pictures of ongoing construction of Tejuosho Market, I was amazed at the quality of job going on there and proud that such a beautiful market could be put in place at Yaba.
However, I begin to wonder about the affordability and availability of this market to the middle class who were the main traders at Tejuosho back then.
Am just wondering not insinuating anything.

LAGOS RANKED MOST INNOVATIVE CITY IN AFRICA BY INTERNATIONAL BODY

The rapid transformation of the city of Lagos in the last five years got world attention at the weekend as two renowned international bodies, Citigroup and Urban Land Institute, ranked her as one of two most innovative cities in Africa. The other city is Cape Town in South Africa.
Citigroup and Urban Land Institute which assess cities worldwide in terms of sustainability and livability, ranked Lagos and Cape Town the most innovative cities in Africa in the list of the world’s 25 most innovative cities.
According to the ranking, Lagos got the nod of the international bodies for its population, rapid progress and potential as well as positive economic climate and potential for investors while Cape Town was ranked for its green space and massive investment in public transportation, technological research and the environment.
In terms of Economic potential, Lagos Port was ranked for accounting for 80 percent of Nigeria’s seaport activity while the City itself accounts for about one quarter of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with USD 33 billion and the population in excess of 18 million making it the most populous city on the list of 25.
Lagos, according to the ranking, was also included in recognition of the innovative and transformational leadership of the head of Government of the City of Lagos, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) who, according to the international ranking bodies,“spearheaded the introduction of the Innovative Advisory Council which deals primarily with Science and Technology”
“Upon the establishment of the Council, Governor Fashola reportedly stated: ‘Cities that fail to harness the power of innovation will eventually become the customers of those that do’”, Citigroup and the Urban Land Institute said.
A statement from Urban Land Institute which said the shortlisted cities “provide new avenues which reflect remarkable, forward-thinking decisions on the part of municipal leadership”, also described Lagos as one of the “Big S” cities in Africa and predicted that it may soon overtake Johannesburg as the Continent’s business hub
Coming barely five years after the commencement of massive infrastructural renewal programme of the Babatunde Fashola administration, the recent rating has confirmed the established fact that the City of Lagos is gradually realizing its dream of becoming Africa’s model mega-city.
Taking a cursory look at the meticulous implementation of the various developmental programmes of the present administration, from the infrastructure renewal programme through the integrated transport system to the beautification and greening of the city, it is little surprise that the City of Lagos should catch the attention of the world rating body.
Cape Town was rated due to their green space ration of 290 square metre per person as against the world index average of 74 sqm per person as well as its massive investment in public transport infrastructure (in the shape of the Integrated Rapid Transport System), a project which is estimated to cost nearly USD 6 billion by the time it is completed.
The city is also favoured by the rating international bodies as a result of the use of technology and research in operations in its harbour as well as concern for the environment and in the way they use land.
